Cendol in America | Malaysian Street Food

Cendol is a Malaysian street food and popular dessert. The basic ingredients are coconut milk, jelly noodles made from mung bean flour with green food coloring (usually derived from the pandan leaf), shaved ice and palm sugar. Other ingredients such as red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, creamed corn, might also be included.

During this past Fourth of July weekend, the in laws came over to grill burgers and put us in charge of dessert. Being pregnant, Rachel was craving for some cendol. The only problem is we’re so far away from Malaysia and I’ve never made cendol before. So I spent the day figuring out how to make Malaysian Cendol. The video shows the story of all the challenges I faced in making this dessert.
