Market time: I believe it starts early around 9am but ends around 1pm. Rainy days you will definitely see less stalls!
Taiwanese market street food we tried:
1. Scallion Pancake 葱油饼
2. Oil Rice 油飯
3. Rice Cake/Pudding 碗粿
4. Wax Apple 蓮霧 I didn’t try this fruit in the video but please make sure you buy one when you’re visiting Taiwan :D. It is SO crispy and yummy.
5. Herbal Tea 青草茶 This one will definitely be hard to like because it’s quite medicinal; however, we Taiwanese people are very big on herbs and tea as a cure for body inflammation.
I know how intimidating it is to browse through a local market not knowing Chinese but Taiwanese people are so friendly. As you can see all the veggies are weighted so you will know what price you’re paying. You can definitely go in and try all the local Taiwanese snacks! If you’re visiting Taiwan and you’re in Da’an district, this could be a great morning stroll or quick lunch spot 🙂
At night this market turns into the Tonghua Night Market which has even MORE Taiwanese street foods to eat!
